Taking the Mediterranean landscape as both point of departure and living archive, Camilla Cardia’s exhibition unfolds through a journey across Albania, from the coastal city of Vlora to the mountains of Theth. In a highly delicate manner, Cardia’s journey alludes to a time that unfolds into multiple temporalities, thus remaining timeless.

Presented at Galeria e Bregdetit, the exhibition brings together a new body of work in which the formation and transformation of its constituent elements are foregrounded through a two-channel video installation, a photographic series, and sculptural volumes. Together, the works form a moving cartography that reimagines the landscape no longer as a backdrop, but as a living social, political, and poetic archive.

The title of the exhibition then returns as a doubt, an uncertainty borrowed from the literary work of the poet Amelia Rosselli, stretching itself across and settling into this landscape, endlessly unfolding the folds of spirit and matter.

In the same way, the works themselves unfold and fold through thousands of transformations; just as do the mountain, the sea, and the river of the title, so too do the land and the history they contain, held within an eternal uncertainty, riding the waves of both matter and spirit.

This exhibition was made possible through the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sports of Albania, and the Italian Institute of Culture in Tirana. The works were conceived during a residency supported by the Culture Moves Europe programme in 2025.
